Housing Rights

Company-provided Dormitory

  • Employer can deduct max 20% of salary for housing and meals
  • Must ensure minimum living conditions: hot water, heating, toilet
  • Minimum space: 2.5m² per person

Renting on Your Own

  • Need a written lease contract (임대차계약서)
  • Deposit (보증금): usually 3-6 months rent
  • Register your move at the local office within 14 days

When You Have Problems

  • Dirty/dangerous dormitory → report to Ministry of Labor (☎1350)
  • Landlord won't return deposit → free legal consultation (☎132)
  • Housing discrimination → Human Rights Commission (☎1331)

Tips

  • Always take photos of room condition at check-in/check-out
  • Keep a copy of your lease contract
